I have so many pictures and video to share I don't really know where to start! We're so busy with work and the schedule that it's hard to find time to edit them and put them together. Here's a bit.
This is the 3rd week of our time in Mozambique, but it seems like we have been here for much longer. We have just passed the culture shock bit of being Africa, I think, and are starting to feel like we are in the normal day to day. It was actually a big help for us to go on a little getaway to South Africa last weekend. When we came back to the branch in Moz, it kind of felt like coming home.

| Jose and Zayda in Kruger Park |
I am very much enjoying the brothers and sisters here. Of the Bethelites, some of them are ex-missionaries or have been in other forms of full time service--some for many years. One couple, Jose and Zayda (from Switzerland), have been serving in Mozambique for 16 years. They are currently working at the branch, but they had served as missionaries since the 90's and then served for a time in the traveling work. They have such wonderful Christian qualities like hospitality and generosity and it makes them a joy to be around. They were kind enough to take us to Kruger Park last weekend for an unforgettable experience.

| Jose witnesses to the parking attendant |
While in South Africa, Jose and Zayda were informally witnessing to almost everyone we met. We had a nice experience with a parking lot attendant at a shopping center. When we entered the shopping center, Jose left the Watchtower with him and directed his attention to the study section on page 16 that dealt with the importance of using the name Jehovah. When we returned to the car, the man approached and said to Jose, "The next time you come back, you can tell me what Jehovah is." Jose got out of the car to continue the conversation and get him some more literature. When Jose offered a visit to his home, he said that he wants to "study the books". Later that night, when we visited some friends of theirs just a few miles away, Jose gave his contact information so he could get a follow up visit.
Those friends were Luis, Nina and Nina's mother. Luis and Nina served at the Mozambique branch office for 16 years and recently moved to South Africa (where he is from) because Nina's father was ill. He has since passed and they are living nearby her mother. However, Luis, Nina and Nina's mother are all regular pioneering and they have started a Portuguese group in the city of
Nelspruit, South Africa. They say that the Portuguese field there is very productive. The three of them have a wonderfully encouraging spirit and you can really perceive their deep love for Jehovah and for others.

My work in the computer department has been increasing steadily since we arrived. This past week a brother arrived from the Kenya branch office, Musa, along with his wife Sandra. Musa has come to help with the installation of a remote translation office (RTO) in the north of Mozambique in a city called Nampula. This week, Musa and I, along with Jonathan and Adilson (also in the computer department) started to setup and configure the computer equipment that will connect the RTO to the society's worldwide computer network. There are also two additional RTOs that need to be setup and installed by July! Doing the translation in remote offices instead of at branch offices is happening all over the world. India has requested some 15 RTOs! Some RTOs have more than 40 translators.

Since
Jonathan is the department overseer, Adilson is trying to make his head
lower than Jonathan's, according to African custom.

Last week we received our official congregation assignment to the Polana Cimento congregation. It's a Portuguese congregation and there is also a missionary couple assigned there, Charles and Stephanie (from France). They arrived only six months ago from Gilead. They are certainly aglow with the spirit and contribute much to the congregation as they take the lead in the ministry. As missionaries are now being assigned to densely populated areas, like major cities, their assignment in Maputo is most appropriate where the territory is fertile and Bible studies are plentiful.
In a near-future post, I want to talk about our incredible trip through Kruger Park! But I'll just show you this picture I got of the "super moon".
